1. Is web hosting included in your services?
Yes, web hosting is included in both our Nonprofit Web Toolkit and Toolbox.

2. How does your email software handle spam filters?
Our server has been specially configured with things like reverse dns and user lookups and additions to AOL whitelists to make sure that our messages get through.

3. Does your email software hide the other email addresses in a mass email?

The software actually sends out emails one at a time. That is how we track
unique clickthroughs on each email.

4. Do you provide training on your software?
Yes, we provide a 2 hour training session which we call a Webraising. It's based on an Amish barn raising, where the entire community comes together to build a barn in a day. Similarly, a Webraising is where a nonprofit's supporters and staff come together to build their website in a day (2 hours). Action Potential trains the volunteers and staff in how to use the software and together we build the site in one day. Read about an organization's Webraising and the nuts and bolts of the process.

5. Do the Webraising participants need to be web-savvy?

No, Webraisers simply need to have used a computer before. We've even taught some Webraisers how to use a mouse. That's all they'll need to be able to build a section of your site with our tools.

6. Does the nonprofit hosting the Webraising need to have enough computers for each Webraiser?
Yes, Action Potential recommends contacting a local college or university to see about using their computer resource rooms. Most of our clients have used these rooms free of charge from local universities.

10. What is the process from start to finish to build and launch a website?
1st step- Domain Name Registration- register the name of your website (generally costs between $20-$35/year through domain registries)

2nd step- Graphic Design- either develop your own look and feel for your website; or pick one of our templates for a ready-made look and feel; or work with one of our graphic designers for a custom design ($65/hour).

3rd step- Layout and Content- brainstorm and decide what content will be on your site and how it will be presented.

4th step- Build your Site- using Action Potential's tools, build your site through a Webraising or on your own.

5th step- Launch- tell us you're ready to publish the site and we'll, "flip the switch." It generally takes up to 48 hours for your new site to be propagated throughout the worldwide web.

11. Do I need a high speed internet connection (cable or DSL) to use your software?
No, however, we do recommend the investment in a high speed connection. Currently, we have clients who service their site through a dial up connection.

12. How do I find a good high speed internet provider in my area?
We recommend going to www.dslreports.com where you can enter your address and phone number and find the high speed internet providers that will be able to work with you. This site also posts user's comments on each provider's service so you can find a provider that best fits your needs.

13. Does Action Potential provide email addresses/hosting?
No, however, we can provide recommendations of companies that do.

14. How fast can we build and launch our website?
This depends on how much of the site you have already planned out.
If you have:

• a domain name registered;
• the content prepared and written (and in an electronic format- i.e. word or pdf); and
• a graphic design template ready (in html format with no images in the navigation);

you can build an average size site in about 4 hours.

If you have:

• a domain name chosen but not yet registered;
• the content prepared and written (and in an electronic format- i.e. word or pdf); and
• you choose one of our free graphic design templates;

you can have your website live in less than 48 hours.

15. If I hire an outside graphic designer, will you be able to use his/her work?
Yes, as long as the following two criteria are met:

• no images in the navigation (menu bars)- text only
• no flash based animation in the navigation

16. Do you build our website or do we?
You use our tools to build your own website. We assist and guide you, but you are the builder.
